Honestly, I still don't have the desire to buy my own car. I don't know why.
Perhaps it's because of my being single. I will be the only passenger, so driving will definitely be not worth it. Also, my workplace is not so far from home. I don't travel that much as of now, and public transportation is still not expensive, as I see. Heavy traffic is also discouraging. Practicality remains to be my primary consideration.
Electric cars are available nowadays, but this may not be worth the buck due to high electricity prices in my country. Biofuels are also not cheap. So I guess it's best to look on efficiency instead, for me.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
I found this list of fuel-efficient cars available, which might change my mind. Suzuki Celerio tops the list with 34.34 km/L, but not so different with Suzuki Alto with 34 km/L, considering also the latter being cheaper in price.
With these models, you can just put accessories later on, in case you find their design boring. So you can have a pimped ride that is not fuel hungry. But of course, it depends on individual preferences, so this idea might not interest you.
Is fuel economy also a primary consideration for you? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

Post It - Urgent & Important
When your to-do list gets very, very long, how do you prioritize?
I have experienced so much difficulty in choosing which of my job assignments to do first. My productivity also gets lower and lower as my to-do list gets longer and longer. Confusion is killing me as work is piling up.
But I have discovered a much modern way of doing it, digital version.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
As Brian Tracy has suggested, it's best to classify your tasks into 4 quadrants, and focus on the important tasks first. He has popularized the concept of Eat That Frog which tells us to do the most difficult important tasks as we start our day.

If you are using Windows 7 for your PC, perhaps you have tried those Sticky Notes, which are like Post-It notes in your desktop. Below is a screenshot of my office desktop PC screen.
A more productive way of utilizing that feature is to label them as to which is URGENT & IMPORTANT and NOT URGENT BUT IMPORTANT. Remember to DO THOSE THINGS FIRST. Then you can add other notes as you wish. Better to include also target dates.
It is optional to include the NOT IMPORTANT stuffs. For me, it will just crowd my desktop and become eye sores. I rather schedule them using Reminders feature of MS Outlook or my mobile phone, so they just appear as I wanted them to and not disturb my rhythm.
In this way, you will always be reminded of things you need to accomplish in the soonest possible time.
What about you? How do you organize your everyday tasks or goals? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

Pursuing Your Passion... and Your Success
What do you REALLY want?
I once became so passionate and focused on a certain goal way back in college, when I was given a chance to be the team captain of our Mechanical Engineering student quizzers in joining inter-university contests. Those days are still clear in my mind: when I choose self-review rather than playing games and having fun with friends; studying even during summer vacations; finding vacant rooms or going to the library during class breaks; getting up early and staying up late without watching TV and taking any food. Thank GOD, I was able lead my team to national championship even without formal coaching from my instructors.
Another good thing is, I was able to utilize those things I learned in contests for my studies, so I didn't had a hard time for my major subjects and even during my review sessions for the professional licensure examinations. I realized that I love what I did, and achieved what I REALLY wanted. Actually, I just aimed for the cash prize of PhP5,000 in the national level. A small sum, but that was all the motivation I needed, aside from the thrill I feel in testing my knowledge under time pressure.
With all honesty, I didn't know what course to take in college. Because engineering is the best course available in the university near our residence, I made a deduction on what particular engineering field to pursue. Anyway, I love science and math subjects. So I ended up in Mechanical Engineering, and graduated with flying colors, all with the help of GOD, and the pursuit of my passion.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
How did I use the process of elimination to choose which engineering course to take?
I had quite a fear of falling, so I won't take Electrical Engineering, where I most probably will end up climbing high voltage towers and posts, aside from the fatality of electrocution. The population of Electronics and Communications Engineering students is one of the highest in our college, so I foresee myself ending up jobless after graduation. Civil Engineering was of no interest for me as I hate manual drawing (no talent for that at all). Mechatronics Engineering was still newly-introduced at that time in our university.
So here I am, a registered mechanical engineer of the Philippines and ranked second place among the 2007 board passers.
My younger brother took my parent's advice to take another engineering course like me, and he chose electronics and communications engineering, which is definitely popular. He was able to finish the five-year program but unfortunately, he never experienced summer vacation because of failing grades, and never had the guts to take the licensure exams.
So this time, for my youngest brother (we're three in the family), I chose what course he should take, and not my parents.
My brother loves playing computer games, especially online stuffs. DotA (stand for Defense of the Ancients), Ragnarok, Counterstrike; he tried them all. He was frequently scolded by my father as he spends more time in those things than in his high school studies. Lots of money were also spared from that addiction of his. So I decided that... He must take an Information Technology (IT) course. And he agreed with that.
So where's my brother now?
Currently, he is doing on-the-job training in a reputable company in Makati as part of of his course requirements. Computer programming is his forte. He never had failing grades even while continuing with his cyber games. Their team always win the monthly tournaments and each one of them takes home around PhP4,000 - PhP5,000. So my brother already earns monthly (while being a student) what I earned in a year from participating in quiz shows. He's also been to Singapore (where I've never been) to represent the country, with his team, in Dragon Nest championship, a fast-rising internet game worldwide. And best of all, he is now applying for Visa so their team can represent again the country for a world championship to be held in China next month.
That addiction didn't interfere with his studies, but rather, it even boosted his IT learning. You should have seen how fast his fingers strike the keyboard without having tried those keyboard typing lessons. It's also easier for him to understand programming languages. No conflict was created between education and play. Not in his wildest dreams will he be going to another country just because of doing what he loves since childhood, playing computer games. My parents changed the way they view my brother's favorite hobby.
Do what you love, and not just what you like. No excuses; no regrets.
So what are you passionated about? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

Chapter 1, Verse 1
Do you allot time reading the Bible?
Most of us do not.
You know, that thick book with lots of words and difficult-to-understand passages. The format is not attractive to the eyes.
Well obviously, it's not meant to attract our eyes.
Some versions put some pictures or sketches, but still, pocketbooks, comics and mangas get more of our attention.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
In the TV channel UNTV 37, you can watch the program "Mapalad ang Bumabasa" (Blessed is He Who Reads) every 8pm on weekdays. Kuya Daniel is reading the passages, so you get both visual and audio formats at the same time.
You can also see the youtube, facebook, blogger and google+ channels.
In this way, it will make your life easier making Bible reading a daily habit, and you don't miss those spiritual moments.
Which of the books in both Old and New Testament have you read to date? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

Workout in 4 Minutes??? As in?!!!
How much time do you dedicate for fitness?
Definitely, time is a very valuable resource. Sometimes, the 24 hours a day we're given does not suffice for the line up of our activities. So any time-saving option really counts to make the most out of our busy schedule.
Unfortunately, jogging for just 2 minutes won't even make you catch your breath. You really need to traverse long distances and allot more time until you feel sweat running down your forehead.
When you hit the gym, you don't just workout only your biceps (which will make you look like Popeye). Also you don't use any equipment with just one repetition. And all those consumes your valuable TIME.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
I limit my exercise time to 30 - 40 minutes. Experts say it's the minimum you need to stay fit. I set another schedule for sports.
So I choose routines that will affect various muscle groups, can be incorporated in your daily routines and cover all aspects of human performance: cardio, flexibility, strength, agility and eventually, power. Core exercises are always on my list.
Do you know that brisk walking burns more calories than jogging? Good thing, you can always do it in between your daily tasks.
It was found that fast-paced movements with changing directions make you more fit than constant motions and monotonous exercises. So when you do jump rope, try do it as fast as lightning, and make explosive movements! When you use a stationary bicycle, don't make it like you're just strolling in a park; do it with a sprint!
Perhaps you can try the routine which is called finisher. Here are the features:
Aside from this, you can also use light weights like dumbbell; easy and convenient, you can use anytime, on your free time. I use them when I get sleepy in what I'm doing; it awakens my stagnant blood.
So what workout routines are you engaged currently? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

Pay Me Now!!! Or Else...
How do you feel when someone you lent doesn't pay you on due date? Or never ever pays every money he borrows?
Now, let's try to make things simple...
Lend what you can afford to lose.
Have you experienced lending someone PhP500.00 and then he or she didn't paid back? How did you feel? If you felt anger and even reprimanded the borrower, then it means you can't afford losing that much money.
But if you didn't felt bad, then most probably you can lend that amount again or perhaps, even more!
If you can't afford PhP100.00 to not come back to you, then do not lend PhP100.00 to anyone! Who cares if the other person felt bad! You can just say, "I'm sorry.. Got so many expenses this month that I can't escape."
If you lent PhP10.00 and the borrower did not pay you, then you didn't feel sorrow nor rage, it means it's fine for you to lend PhP10.00.
Again, always be prepared for the worst. And know the limits of your feelings.
So how much money have you given away to debtors? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

"And the culprit is..."
"We believe this product will work with your application."
It's been five years since I was introduced on the art of bidding for a purchase requisition. "Art" as I call it, because you need not only technical understanding of your application, but also "detective" skills.
Unfortunately, polygraph is not allowed on these kind of discussions, so research is very essential to arrive at the best offer in front of you.
Last year, I was tasked to order steam traps to replace the existing ones which were found inappropriate. I asked four suppliers to do survey of the system, then provide me their offer. It later came out there are some differences in the results of their study, and they quoted different types of traps, which put me in a "lost" situation.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
I decided to look for expert, NEUTRAL opinions, but it's quite difficult to look for such in our area. So I sought the help of Linkedin, a social networking site for professionals.
Being affiliated in so many groups, that made my search easy. After posting my problem in the page, steam experts who has worked in various companies such as the suppliers who came to me, responded to my call. Good thing, those suppliers are world famous corporations, so everyone in the group understands how to approach my problem.
I later found out from the consultation that the bidders quoted to me the steam trap product where they have the majority of world market share. I also found out through the said experts and from some online literature which type is the best for my need, so I was able to make the best choice.
I was also able to pinpoint the salespersons who are eager to make a sale and recklessly offering unsuitable products which can mean great loss in our operations, which they care less about.
Social media is not only there for us to connect with friends and get gossips, but will also assist us in our chosen career. So we must make a wise use of them, and not confine our thinking with the common.
How do you evaluate options put in your table? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

Your Personal "Mobile" Loading Station
So who's not texting here?
It is sometimes quite troublesome to look for a loading station when you are busy working on something or the nearest store is kilometers from your location.
I also experienced spending more than PhP400 worth of cellphone load because of my job, and yet my company won't provide that for me free.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
Why not consider having a "personal loading station"? What I mean is, have your own load wallet, so you can load yourself anytime, anywhere with signal. And as a bonus, you get 10% discount everytime.
Better try VMobile Technouser card. For PhP250, you can become a "walking loading station". You can even sell load wallet to anyone ,if you want.
Another good thing is, you can sell 300+ load products, whether it be cellphone, internet, cable, online games, etc., with just 1 mobile phone and 1 sim card! Isn't that incredible?! No need for rental fees, carrying bulky prepaid cards and buying three (3) cellphone units to start an eloading biz.
For more info, check out the product list here.
Thinking of putting up an e-loading business? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.

I Plant My Medicine
Disease means cash out of the pocket, isn't it?
Never did I hear that prices of pharmaceutical drugs went down. The dilemma is, more and more people get sick, and new forms of diseases are sprouting like mushrooms in our backyard. Healthy lifestyle is difficult to achieve as the Filipino diet is more inclined to rice and meat; a sad reality for a known agricultural country.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
Have you heard about Ashitaba plant?
Originating from Japan, this plant is now starting to get popular because of the amazing and so many health benefits without those tedious and complicated preparations. Just get a leaf, wash n your faucet, then eat it! And amazingly, it tastes like guava fruit.
There are two variants of this plant, and unfortunately, the original Japan ashitaba (Angelica keiskei) is so rare in the Philippines. Mostly, you will find Gynura procumbens, characterized by smooth leaf profile and greener in color. Angelica keiskei has ridged leaves and secretes yellow sap when stem is cut. Also, it grows new leaf the next day after you remove one, that's why it's called "Tomorrow's leaf". It's very easy to plant and will cost you around PhP50 to buy a plant as big as in the pictures below.
MORE INFO can be found here.
BENEFITS:
-immune system stimulation
-promotes healthy function of the stomach and intestines, anti-viral and anti-bacterial activity
-reduces inflammation
-help cleanse the blood
-regulate blood sugar levels (anti-diabetic action)
-promote healthy cholesterol levels (decreasing unhealthy LDL cholesterol)
-stimulates the production of Nerve growth Factor (NGF) FOR EXCELLENT NERVE FUNCTION
-suppresses cell growth abnormalities such as tumors (as seen in cancer)
-helps decreases high blood pressure
-removes toxic wastes from the body, aids natural sleep cycles
-improves visual acuity and provides peri-menopausal relief
-an interesting side benefit many users of ashitaba have reported their skin feels smoother and much healthier
HISTORY
Tomorrow's Leaf was discovered in Hachijo Island (Japan). The plant grows richly in great abundance. Once you pick one today, tomorrow you will see it start to grow a new life. An 80-year old medical doctor who was suffering in his last stage of lung cancer found this plant during his trip to Hachijo Island.

Dictionary In a Click
Do you always encounter peculiar or unknown words while surfing the internet?
If you're like me, I'm not so fluent with the English language. So I always need to have a dictionary, either the usual thick book by Mr. Webster or through my mobile phone, beside me every time I'm searching for various things online.
Now, let's try to make things simple...
Why not try using Google Dictionary? Just a double-click is enough to give you the definitions of the word you want to understand. So easy! Your reference is right before your eyes, in your desktop!
This can also be a replacement for your heavy hardbound, and an online translator, too. You can download the app here.
How do you increase your vocabulary? Do you think this app will be of great help? Please share your experiences and insights in the comments section below.
